Dubby sent me this tub free as a partner perk. I'm a Dubby partner, so I earn a commission when someone orders with my code. Below is my hands-on review of the Chef's Choice tub, which turned out to be Japanese Soda. Ingredient and caffeine details come from Dubby's own product page and label.
What the Chef's Choice tub is
Chef's Choice is Dubby's surprise-flavor tub. Dubby says it picks "a randomized flavor of the day" for you from any tub it has in the warehouse, so you won't know your flavor until the tub arrives. Each tub holds 30 servings.
My tub was Japanese Soda. Dubby describes it as a Kyoto-inspired soda flavor and notes that it's non-carbonated. Since Chef's Choice is random, yours may be a different flavor. If you specifically want Japanese Soda, Dubby also sells it as its own tub.
What Dubby lists on the label
Dubby describes its product as a powdered energy drink mix, labeled as a dietary supplement. Per Dubby's product page:
- Caffeine: 150 mg per serving
- Servings: 30 per tub
- Other listed ingredients: green coffee fruit extract, L-taurine, L-tyrosine, L-glutamine, L-citrulline, and vitamins B3, B6, B12 and C
- Dubby says: zero sugar, no maltodextrin, no artificial colors or dyes, and made in the USA in an FDA-inspected facility
These are Dubby's own descriptions. Check the label on your tub for the full Supplement Facts panel.
Mixing it up
Dubby is a powder you mix with water, usually in a shaker cup. Dubby's FAQ suggests starting with half a serving to see how caffeine affects you, then adjusting.
My take
I enjoy the Japanese Soda flavor.
My one gripe: the tub is about half air. It's still 30 servings, though.
Who it's for (and who it isn't)
Dubby is made for adults who like flavored drink mixes and want a caffeinated option. Each serving contains 150 mg of caffeine. It isn't recommended for anyone under 18, anyone pregnant or nursing, or anyone sensitive to caffeine. For most healthy adults, the FDA cites about 400 mg of caffeine a day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects. Count Dubby toward that total along with coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks. If you have a health condition or take medication, check with your doctor first.
